Community & Volunteer Groups

Communities in Bloom - The Village of Delia became a registered member of the national society of Communities in Bloom in 2005. A Volunteer committee was established and is active from April through to November. This committee exemplifies the motto: "people, plants and pride growing together." There are twelve members at the present time and several community people who pitch in when needed. For the past two years Delia has earned four out of a possible five "blooms" in our population category. Meeting dates are posted on bulletin boards at various venues around the village. Delia Elks - instituted as a lodge in 1964. They support community groups and organizations in the Village and surrounding areas and also donate to national charities. Delia Elks host weekly Bingo's and monthly breakfasts.

Delia Drop In Centre - a social organization for adults 50 years of age and over. The centre is home to many activities. The members are strong community boosters.

Delia and District Ag. Society - with the aid of countless volunteers, the Society supports our arena, hosts an Annual Fall Fair and an Annual Children's Farm Safety Program.

Active Health Project - operates out of the basement of the former Mason Hall for public usage. Fitness and exercise equipment and classes are available.

Delia 4-H Beef Club - offers students from 9 to 21 years the opportunity to show and sell calves, which involves record keeping. Public speaking and community service are also an integral part of the 4-H process.

Delia 4-H Multi-Club - offers woodworking, sewing, food preparation, small engines, outdoor Ed and crafts. There are many opportunities for members such as 4-H camps, fun days, trips, scholarships and exchanges.

Delia Minor Hockey - at the moment this organization is home to one team, the Tiny Mites (ages 7 and under). There is always room for more teams!

Delia Skating Club- figure and power skating for ages 4 and up. They offer Blazing Blades, Canskate and Senior Programs.

Delia Historical Society - the society's purpose is to collect, preserve, exhibit and interpret those things historical in the community. They were pivotal in the role of restoring a circa 1913 gristmill to full operational status with all the original parts in use. The society also provides education programs when requested by their local schools.

Village of Delia Fire Department- the Delia volunteer fire department was established in 1915 with 14 members. Currently there are 16 active members varying from young to the experienced. The department runs with three vehicles, a 2010 Freight liner, a 2009 quick response unit, a 1976 Ford pumper equipped with a 1000-gallon water tank.

Delia Youth Group - hosted by the Delia Christian Fellowship Church is a weekly event full of fun and excitement for students Grade seven and up.

Delia Curling Club League- The Delia Curling Club welcomes members of all ages, skill levels and abilities. They currently offer weekly league curling (regular and stick league), junior curling lessons and host bonspiels throughout the season. KidSport- KidSport Delia Believes that no kid should be left on the sidelines and ALL should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports. KidSport provides support to children in order to remove financial barriers that prevent them from playing organized sport. Since 2002, KidSport Delia has sponsored 77 children. Children under the age of 18 will receive up to $250 per calendar year. Funding is for sport activities that demonstrate a sustained sport experience led by qualified instructors. GET INVOLVED!
